It is with profound sadness that we have learned of the untimely death of Waruna Maddumage. While Extra Cover mostly works with and alongside children, we have set up a small medical emergency operation through the offices of Newton Perera in Colombo. Newton, who. until three years ago ran the Extra Cover Foundation, has identified a few people who are in desperate need of medicine which the state unfortunately does not provide. Following a diagnosis of kidney failure, Waruna was receiving vital medicine, but a few weeks after Robert met him and his wife Champika last October, Waruna sadly passed away. He was 52 years old. Champika (pictured) has been diagnosed with cancer and Extra Cover is now helping her with essential medication.
